Kylian Mbappe takes French record from Just Fontaine.
Mbappe has set a French record for most goals for club & country in a single season.
With his goal for France on Monday night against Greece, Kylian broke the record for the highest-scoring French player in a season for both club and national team. Mbappe has once again had a great season and been the standout player for both France and PSG. He is currently being linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Manchester United, after stating that he will not extend his contract with PSG beyond 2024.
Mbappe now takes over the record from Just Fontaine, who had 53 goals for both club and national team in a season back in the 1957/58 season:
1. Kylian Mbappe (54 goals)
2. Just Fontaine (53 goals)
3. Philippe Gondet (1965/66)
4. Karim Benzema (2021/22)
Personally, Mbappe has once again performed at a high level. He and Haaland are the players with the most goals in the 2022/23 season, and it is likely that these two players will be competing for the title of Europe's top scorer in the coming years as well.

Mbappe will likely look back on the season with mixed feelings. While he once again secured the French league title, the disappointment of losing in the World Cup final and experiencing an early exit in the Champions League may overshadow the successes he has had. The future remains uncertain for the French forward as his time at PSG is uncertain, but he will undoubtedly continue to pursue more records for the French national team.
