RECAP FEB 1 - CHRIS PAUL HONORS HIS JERSEY NUMBER

RECAP FEB 1 - CHRIS PAUL HONORS HIS JERSEY NUMBER
Last night was a time of close games and outscoring teams by 30+ points. High and lows, fast or slow, the league is starting to look different every single week

Last night offered us plenty of memorable plays and highlights, but also the lowlights that we know and love. Let's see what our favorite players were up to last night.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs GS Warriors

First of all, the Timberwolves have been seen as a joke of a team after trading most of their team for an aging Rudy Gobert, and with it Laurri Markkanen who has played at an all star level. Additionally, the Jazz are arguably having a better season than the Wolves, as Walker Kessler has recorded more blocks than Gobert this season.

Going against them were the Warriors who are struggling to close out games. Head coach Steve Kerr talked about it at the end of the game telling the media:

"We're not good enough, yet, to close games. We’ve got to get better.”

Unfortunately he is right, as the Warriors have a 51% winning rate, mostly winning at home.

Boston Celtics vs Brooklyn Nets

This game was a blow out, with the Celtics winning by 43 points. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both made 7 three pointers and scored 26 and 31 respectively.

The Nets seemed to lose the entire game, with Kyrie going 1-7 from three with a 14% rate. He made most of his shots from the field scoring only 20. The whole team in fact missed many threes, which seems to be the core of their problems, already shooting a season low 13% vs the Spurs two weeks ago. This time they 23% form three, and improvement form the Spurs game, but not something they can afford against a big team like the Celtics, who shot 48% form three.

Phoenix Suns vs Atlanta Hawks

This game was also a blow out as the hawks outscored the Suns by 32 points. The Suns were the favorites to win this game, but couldn't manage to shoot the ball.

Most players on the Suns shot form three and missed, multiple times even. The entire roster recorded a 14% success rate when shooting from three, missing most of their shots, including floor general Chris Paul.

Chris Paul's performance was comparable to the 2022 playoffs vs the Mavs, where he dropped a measly 2 points in game 7. This time scoring 3, making homage to his jersey number probably.

The Suns better find a way to change the team around and become a winning team again. Most of the issues are internal, as issues between staff and players have tipped the organization sideways after their all-time season last year.
