KYRIE TRADED TO THE MAVS
As the trade deadline is approaching, the Mavs trade for Kyrie in a much need time for the organization
This Friday we officially got the news that Kyrie Irving was traded to the Mavs in a much anticipated trade. The now former Nets player made his voice heard as he demanded a trade over a week ago.
Many speculated that Uncle Drew would be headed to the Lakers in order to join forces with his old teammate LeBron James. Although it would have been nice to see the pair back together again, the Nets were not so keen on trading with the Lakers, uninterested in Russell Westbrook as a replacement.
It would've helped the Lakers to get one more star on their team, which lacks bench depth severely. But the Lakers have to go another direction in order to save themselves as the trade deadline comes to and end.
Kyrie has been playing at an all star level in the last month, in fact many suspect the player to inflate his value, as he is now an all star player in order to get a trade out of Brooklyn. The Kevin Durant led Nets don't have many other options as their star players, as losing Kyrie means having a star less team going at it in the dying instances of the season.
For Dallas this is a win, as Mark Cuban makes the wishes of many Maverick fans. Luka finally got his star player on his team, and hopefully can make good use of him. Both Kyrie and Doncic are known as iso players, but passing is also one of their strong suits. Possibly, we will see a guard shift between Luka and Kyrie, going from shooting to point guard, and back and forth.
The Dallas Mavericks have been on a bit of a slow run, going from 3rd in the west to 6th now. Winning only 3 of their last 3 games, the team must get back on their feet as Luka will be back and healthy in a week or so. Right after the All Star break should be the time we see the two Dallas stars play amongst each other. Hopefully Kyrie fits in the system, which shouldn't be a problem as Kyrie doesn't have much to prove, all he wants to do is play ball.
The rest of the season should be a lot more interesting in the west after this trade, and probably even more if more trades happen before the deadline.
