Matt Murray in trouble with the NHL due to cheating scandal
NHL not happy with unsportsmanship move from Maple Leafs goalie
Matt Murray is a goal keeper for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who on Monday got in trouble for alleged cheating. They played the Flyers in Philadelphia and ended up winning 2-6. The Flyers haven't been in such good shape this season at least compared to the Maple Leafs who are second in the Atlantic division.
The incident happened when Matt Murray shook and moved the goal post as the game was going on, and no refs or officials noticed the player frantically moving on the rink. The cameras caught the goalie from the top camera while he shook to move the goal further from the line. The worst part is that it wasn't that cool of a game, the Maple Leafs weren't even losing or winning by a little, the sportsmanship that night from Murray was poor and the NHL are not liking it.
It was noticed that the Leafs' goalie has had a history of moving the goal post from the bearings that secure it tight and don't move it, so that he can jump towards the goal post when the other team is on offense, so that the goal moves itself entirely.
The situation remains fluid as the rules don't dictate anything specific in relation to the goal post being removed from the bearings, even tho it shouldn't be removed, but it still is an act of unsportsmanship.
