50-year-old Jaromir Jagr just became the oldest player to score in the Czech league
This is the incredible story of a czech ice hockey legend playing in when some players got ill-
Jaromir Jagr was a former NHL player who ended his career about 6 years ago after a long stint in the league. After being drafted by the penguins, who he played for 10 years, after which he went around the league and ended up with over 800 career goals. But it doesn't matter to Jaromir if his playing time is over. Jaromir decided to invest in Czech Extraliga club Kladno Knights (Rytíři Kladno) and become owner of his hometown's hockey team, pretty much the dream for all retired pro athletes.
A couple weeks ago, afraid that Kladno were to postpone their second game in a row this season due to lack of players, Jaromir decided to lace up his skates and play the final minutes, getting 2 assists in the making. 2 days ago Jaromir became the oldest player in Extraliga history to score a goal, all at the age of 50.
Some stories after retirement are good, others don't end up so well. Some who dominated sports like MJ in basketball, couldn't pursue a bigger career for the hell of it, and just pursued money. Jaromir just had every kid's biggest dream; becoming a pro, retire at the top, own your hometown's club, and play for it when your team needs you the most.
Gratulujem Jaromir.
