What A Chelsea Team Under Mauricio Pochettino Could Look Like

What A Chelsea Team Under Mauricio Pochettino Could Look Like
Chelsea is in the midst of their worst season in recent years, but there is light at the end of the tunnel — the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the new head coach.

Since Todd Boehly bought the club from Roman Abramovich, Chelsea have been on a downward spiral, putting them in a precarious position.
There’s even been a faint possibility of being relegated to the Championship.

It’s been tough for Chelsea fans, especially those who are also betting fans, to watch Chelsea play. Sportsbooks around the world were giving Chelsea poor odds, from European agencies all the way to the African sportsbooks found on the Galsport registration guide for Tanzanian users, where African Premier League fans gather. But, with the new head coach there’s hope again.

Boehly made a number of large investments in the area of player recruitment, which brought a new kind of problem to Chelsea that many teams seldom have — too many players.

With too many players, it has proven difficult for Chelsea to maintain a style of play and a consistent starting XI. This issue has made Chelsea change managers four times in the middle of one season in their search for the right fit.

With Pochettino's arrival, it appears that things might change for the men in blue.

Here's how Pochettino could mix things up:

1. Pochettino is no stranger to managing a big side with big characters. He led Tottenham to the Champions League final against all odds. Also, he led PSG to another Ligue 1 title in his first season at the club, managing players like Kane, Neymar, and Mbappé, bringing out the best in them. That’s something Chelsea desperately needs.

2. Pochettino will probably not compromise on his attacking style of play (4-3-3) and his fast-paced game, which would put most of the players on their toes, knowing that he will need a high level of fitness and speed.

3. In his Tottenham days, Pochettino loved a steady number 9, which he got from Harry Kane, and he would hope to get something similar from a player in this Chelsea side, which means Romelu Lukaku's time at Chelsea might yet have another twist to it.

4. Pochettino loves really pacy wingers. He has a number of them to choose from in this Chelsea side, with the likes of Mykhalo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku (who has not even joined the side yet), and possibly João Félix, whose future remains undecided.

5. Aside from the inherent need to downsize on the side of the club, Pochettino also loves to know his starting XI, and he seldom changes the setup unless in extenuating circumstances.

6. Pochettino has very high standards, so signing new players would most likely not be done the way it had been done in the summer and winter windows of this transfer season. He would much rather use the players available (which is a lot) rather than go out on a limb to get a player unless the player is Harry Kane.

7. Chelsea find themselves in a situation that Pochettino is familiar with. It is quite similar to the Tottenham situation when he came in, with players not giving enough and a need to seamlessly phase out players that weren't up to the club standard. Hence, we might see a lot more outgoings than previously expected.

Winning is near guaranteed with Pochettino, not just because of his tactics but his philosophy on character and attitude in football games.

With a manager like Pochettino and a squad like Chelsea's, a new contender might be on the rise.

Overall, the arrival of Pochettino is a positive development for Chelsea. He is a proven winner, and he has the experience and the ability to turn things around at the club.
