We’ve looked into the top 10 midfielders from the Premier League this season who have made the most passes whilst under pressure. 

10. Pierre Hojbjerg 

Pierre Hojbjerg has been a dependable Premier League midfielder for some time now and he is just as good on the ball as he is off it. 

Since signing for Spurs, he has only missed two league matches and Antonio Conte regards him as a trusted midfielder. 

This season he has completed 43 passes whilst under pressure, which is more than any other Spurs player.

It was quite surprising that Youri Tielemans didn’t get his move away from Leicester in the end, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Manager David Moyes has insisted that he is worth well over £100 million and it’s hard to argue against that right now. 

Rice has completed a total of 44 passes whilst under pressure from the opposition. 

7. Fabinho 

By their high standards, Liverpool have had a poor start to the season.

Despite this though, Fabinho still manages to rank as one of the best midfielders in the league as he has made a total of 46 passes whilst under pressure. 

6. Alexis Mac Allister 

Alexis Mac Allister has been one of Brighton’s standout players this season and he has been a real threat in front of goal so far. 

The Argentine midfielder has made 47 passes whilst under pressure during this season so far. 

5. Ruben Neves 

Wolves know just how lucky they are to still have Ruben Neves around after all this time as he continues to put in brilliant performances. 

Neves is the dictator of play at Wolves and he can more than handle players putting him under pressure as he has completed 49 passes whilst under pressure this season. 

4. Bruno Fernandes 

Bruno Fernandes seems to have regained his spark that he lost last season and Manchester United will be a much better outfit because of this. 

He has a goal and an assist in his first six matches of the season and he has made a total of 53 passes whilst under pressure from the opposition. 

3. Martin Odegaard 

Arsenal fans knew how good Martin Odegaard was last season and this time around he seems to have added a new dynamic or two to his game. 

The playmaker has scored three goals in his opening six matches of the season and he has completed 58 passes whilst under pressure. 

2. Joelinton 

The transformation of Joelinton since he arrived at Newcastle has been staggering to see. 

From being regarded as a big-money flop to a cult hero in the matter of months. 

Eddie Howe has switched the role of Joelinton to a ball-winning midfielder and the Brazilian hasn’t looked back since. 

In total, he has made 59 passes whilst under pressure, which is significantly more than anyone else in the Newcastle squad. 

1. Rodri 

Since his arrival in the Premier League, Rodri has been the press-proof king and this season has been no different. 

The Spanish midfielder always seems to know exactly how much time and space he has on the ball. 

Pep Guardiola’s system is reliant on players like Rodri being comfortable on the ball and he has grown into his role well over the years for City. 

In total, he has made 70 passes whilst under pressure, which blows everyone else in the league out of the water.
