The top 10 most creative Bundesliga players this season

The Bundesliga is known for being a high-scoring league and we’ve looked into the most creative outlets in the Bundesliga so far.

On average, a team has an xG of 1.37 per 90 in the Bundesliga, which is the second highest in Europe’s top five leagues. 

We ranked the most creative players in the German league based on shot-creating actions. 

A shot-creating action is defined as the two offensive actions directly leading to a shot, such as a pass, dribble or drawing a foul. 

10. Sadio Mane 

Sadio Mane has adapted to life at Bayern Munich well so far as he has scored three goals in his opening five matches. 

He has been utilised in a central position this season, as we saw him play for Liverpool last season.  

The 30-year-old has produced 18 shot-creating actions, but is yet to register an assist for his new club. 

9. Jeremie Frimpong 

Jeremie Frimpong’s best performance of the season came against Mainz 05 where he scored a brace as his side went on to win 3-0. 

The Bayer Leverkusen full back has produced 18 shot-creating actions this season at an average of 3.8 per 90. 

Frimpong currently tops the Bundesliga when it comes to successful dribbles as he has already completed 16 so far. 

8. Dani Olmo 

It’s no surprise to see Dani Olmo ranking amongst the most creative players in the Bundesliga. 

This season has seen the Spanish midfielder produce 20 shot-creating actions, at an average of 5.19 per 90. 

7. Jonas Hofmann 

Jonas Hofmann had a fine season last year as he scored 12 goals and produced five assists. 

His creative numbers have remained consistent this season as he has produced 21 shot-creating actions in total. 

6. Thomas Muller 

Thomas Müller ranks amongst the most creative players of all time with his tally of assists and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. 

Muller already has two assists to his name this season and produced 22 shot-creating actions in total. 

5. Vincenzo Grifo 

Vincenzo Grifo has 17 assists across his last two seasons for Freiburg. 

The Italian midfielder has been involved in four goals so far this season and has produced 22 shot-creating actions. 

4. Kingsley Coman 

Kingsley Coman has only made three starts so far this season and impressively enough he manages to rank fourth in the Bundesliga for shot-creating actions. 

The Bayern Munich winger has three goal contributions in his first three matches and has produced 23 shot-creating actions. 

The Frenchman has averaged three key passes per game and has been one of Bayern’s most creative players so far. 

3. Joshua Kimmich 

Joshua Kimmich is the complete midfielder.  

He is defensively assured and going forward he is capable of creating and scoring goals. The German midfielder already has four goal contributions this season with two goals and two assists. 

In total, he has made 26 shot-creating actions at an average of 5.56 per 90. 

2. Leroy Sane 

Leroy Sane hasn’t quite managed to elevate his game to the next level since leaving Manchester City, but he has had a promising start to this campaign. 

The German winger has not managed to score double figures in the league since leaving Man City, but he’s already scored two goals this season. 

The dynamic winger has produced a total of 27 shot-creating actions in 335 minutes of league football. 

1. Kevin Stoger 

Kevin Stoger only started one Bundesliga match last season and made 22 appearances coming off the bench for Mainz. 

Since moving back to Bochum, he’s had plenty of first team opportunities. 

The Austrian midfielder has managed to produce 34 shot-creating actions so far this season and currently leads the way in the Bundesliga as the most creative player.
