The top 10 dribblers in Ligue 1 this season: Neymar, Mbappe, Boufal
The French league is home to some of the best dribblers in European football right now and we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 most successful dribblers from this season.
10. Ludovic Blas
Ludovic Blas had a terrific 21/22 campaign with Nantes as he scored 10 goals and picked up five assists.
The 24-year-old was the most prolific dribbler at Nates with 61 successful dribbles completed throughout the season.
9. Neymar
Neymar might not have had his most prolific campaign, but he did start to come into form towards the end of the season.
Injuries meant that he could only started 22 league games, but in that time he scored 13 goals, got six assists and completed 67 dribbles.
8. Denis Bouanga
Denis Bouanga was Saint-Etienne's main creative outlet throughout the season as he provided six assists.
He completed 69 dribbles throughout the season, more than any other of his teammates.
7. Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi might not have hit the heights many people thought he might have in his first season with PSG, but his quality has still shone through at times.
Messi has adapted his role this season and was the main creative force behind PSG’s title winning season.
The 34-year-old completed 70 dribbles this season with a success rate of 64.8%.
Factoring in his lack of gametime at the start of the season, Messi still manages to complete an impressive 2.93 dribbles per 90.
The Argentian star does top the Ligue 1 rankings when it comes to megs as he has put the ball through an opponent’s legs 11 times, more than any other Ligue 1 player.
6. Seko Fofana
Seko Fofana has been an instrumental player for Lens this season as he chipped in with eight goals from midfield.
The 27-year-old completed 72 successful dribbles, averaging 1.93 per 90.
5. Lucas Paquetá
Several Premier League clubs have recently been linked with a move for Lyon’s Brazilian star and when you take a look into his stats, it’s understandable to see why.
The 24-year-old has completed 75 successful dribbles, with a success rate of 67%, which makes him the most efficient dribbler in today’s top 10.
4. Houssem Aouar
Lyon’s Houssem Aouar also ranks as one of the most creative players in the French league and his agility in the middle of the pitch allows him to wriggle out of tight situations.
He has 10 goal contributions and has managed to complete 75 successful dribbles, the same as Lucas Paquetá, his Lyon teammate.
3. Téji Savanier
It’s no surprise to see Téji Savanier rank among the best dribblers in the league and this season has been another entertaining one for the French midfielder.
He has chipped in with eight goals and seven assists for Montpellier throughout the season and he is their most successful dribbler with 77 completed this season.
2. Sofiane Boufal
Sofiane Boufal had some notable moments for Southampton in the Premier League between 2016 and 2020 and he is now lighting up Ligue 1 for Angers.
The skilful Moroccan winger has enjoyed his best goalscoring season since 2015 as he has scored eight league goals.
Known for his agility and tricky, the 28-year-old managed to complete 95 successful dribbles with a success rate of 51.6%.
1. Kylian Mbappé
Who else would have topped the list?
Mbappe has had his best season in terms of goal contributions with an impressive 28 goals and 17 assists as PSG reclaimed their Ligue 1 title.
The 22-year-old French star was the only Ligue 1 player to complete over 100 dribbles this season as managed 103 in total.
As PSG have managed to tie Mbappe down to a new contract you would expect him to go from strength to strength and perhaps top these numbers next season.
