The Premier League relegation candidate’s highest scoring players

Raphinha
The five teams embroiled in the relegation battle will be counting on their main goal scorers to keep their hopes of staying in the Premier League alive. Here are each of those teams' top scorers this season.

We’re heading into the final stretch of the Premier League campaign, and we’ve taken a look at the best goal scorers from the worst performing teams this season.

We’ve included Leeds, Everton, Burnley, Watford and Norwich in this list, and more successful teams may well want to sign some of these players should they succumb to relegation.

Use this guide so you know the very best from a bad bunch.

Leeds United – Raphinha

Played: 29

Goals: 10

Goals per game: 0.35

Mins per goal: 242

Assists: 3

The Brazilian forward Raphinha has certainly made his mark on the Premier League this season and has arguably been Leeds United’s best player overall, scoring 10 goals in 29 games.

He is versatile too, with the ability to play down the middle or on the wing and is a good dribbler and puts away his chances well too.

Unsurprisingly, he’s been heavily linked with big money moves to the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool, so we could see him playing in the Champions League next season.

Everton – Richarlison

Played: 23

Goals: 6

Goals per game: 0.26

Minutes per goal: 318

Assists: 4

Richarlison has played a big role in Everton’s relegation fightback and has contributed six goals in the campaign so far, which may be a low tally for a club’s top scorer but they have been invaluable for the Toffees.

He’s another player who can play both on the wing and as a centre-forward and puts in a lot of work off the ball, helping get back to defend when he’s needed.

Like Raphinha, he’s been linked with moves away from his current club with Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG all interested.

Burnley - Maxwel Cornet (on loan from Lyon?)

Played: 19

Goals: 7

Goals per game: 0.37

Minutes per goal: 177

Assists: 1

Burnley’s £13.5 million signing Maxwel Cornet has had a good first season in the Premier League, scoring seven goals in 19 matches.

The Ivorian winger also scored an important winning goal against Everton last week, and if Burnley can survive, he would be a big reason for them doing so.

But Burnley may struggle to keep hold of him if they find themselves relegated to the Championship, as he’s now proven his ability to score at the highest level.

Watford – Emmanuel Dennis

Played: 29

Goals: 9

Goals per game: 0.31

Minutes per goal: 250

Assists: 5

Emmanuel Dennis is another player we could see move on if his team is relegated, scoring nine in 29 in a Watford side that haven’t given him much service this season.

At the age of 24, he still has plenty of time to improve, and has already earned himself five caps for the Nigerian national team.

Apparently, Manchester United and Arsenal were interested in the striker before he signed for Watford, so could we see this interest rekindled if the Hornets do go down?

Norwich City – Teemu Pukki

Played: 30

Goals: 9

Goals per game: 0.3

Minutes per goal: 318

Assists: 2

Teemu Pukki is the most experienced player in this list and has a proven goal scoring record, netting 74 times in 149 appearances for Norwich.

The Finnish forward has scored nine goals this season, which means he has scored 45% of the Canaries’ goals.

His scoring record has been vital in helping Norwich return to the Premier League when they have previously been relegated, so the 32-year-old may have to do it again next season.
