The highest rated players in La Liga this season: Rodrygo, Lewandowski

La Liga is home to some of the best players in Europe right now and we’ve looked into the highest-performing players this season.

We’ve dived into the stats and ranked the top 10 players based on their average Whoscored rating this season. 

10. Mikel Merino 

Mikel Merino has been Real Sociedad’s most creative outlet this season and he kicks off the list in 10th place. 

Merino has produced three assists this season and averages two key passes per game, which is more than anyone else in the Sociedad squad. 

The Spanish midfielder has an average match rating of 7.36 and has had a solid start to the new campaign. 

9. Lee Kang-In 

Lee Kang-In has produced the good for Mallorca this season with a goal and three assists in his first seven appearances of the season. 

The 21-year-old has averaged an impressive 2.1 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game with an average match rating of 7.36. 

8. Aurelien Tchouameni 

Aurelien Tchouameni has had no problems with adapting to life at Real Madrid as he currently ranks as one of the highest performers in La Liga. 

The French midfielder has produced two assists this season and has also been a superb outlet off the ball, with an average of 2.2 tackles this season. 

He has an average match rating of 7.38 and will no doubt be a popular player in Madrid for years to come. 

7. Alexander Sorloth 

Alexander Sorloth has only featured in four matches this season and he already has four goal contributions to name. 

The Real Sociedad forward has an average match rating of 7.45 and is his club’s highest rated player. 

6. Nico Williams 

Nico Williams has had an excellent start to the new campaign with three goals and two assists already this year. 

The 20-year-old has predominantly been utilised on the right-hand side this season and has an average match rating of 7.47. 

5. Karim Benzema 

Karim Benzema is on track for his first Ballon d’Or this year and he has had a solid start to the 2022/23 campaign. 

The French forward has missed a chunk of the season through injury, but he has still managed to score three goals and get an assist in his first five matches of the season. 

Overall, Benzema has an average match rating of 7.51 and will be crucial to Real Madrid’s title defence. 

4. Ousmane Dembele 

Ousmane Dembele has been thriving under Xavi and he seems to have taken his game up a level since he signed his new contract with Barcelona. 

The versatile forward has been one of the best creative outlets in the league this season with an average of 2.9 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game. 

In total, he has an average match rating of 7.53 and has been one of Barcelona’s top performing players this season. 

3. Vinicius Junior 

Vinicius Junior has picked up from where he left off last season and has already scored five goals in La Liga. 

The Brazilian forward has established himself into one of the most productive wingers in Europe and he has a 7.76 average match rating to show for it. 

2. Rodrygo 

Rodrygo has been another of Real Madrid’s stars this season and he is only one goal away from matching his entire league tally from last season. 

The 21-year-old winger has scored three league goals and has two assists in his first five matches of the season. 

The Brazilian also manages to boast the highest average match rating at Real Madrid, with an average rating of 7.77. 

1. Robert Lewandowski 

Robert Lewandowski made the bold decision to leave Bayern Munich this summer and he has easily adapted to life at Barcelona. 

The Polish forward is currently the top goalscorer in La Liga with nine goals and his average match rating of 8.19 is higher than anyone else.
