The Champions League is the most prestigious trophy available in European football and we have seen some truly world class goalkeepers over the years.
We’ve counted down the top 10 goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in Champions League history.
10. Jan Oblak
Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak was arguably the best goalkeeper in the world during his peak.
Diego Simeone’s side have been defined by their defensive resilience and so it’s no surprise to see Oblak on the list.
The Slovenian goalkeeper has managed to keep 30 clean sheets in 70 Champions League appearances throughout his career.
9. Vitor Baia
The majority of Vitor Baia’s games in the Champions League were for FC Porto, but he did have a short stint at Barcelona.
The Portuguese goalkeeper kept a total of 31 clean sheets in 70 matches.
8. Oliver Kahn
Oliver Kahn is one of the most iconic goalkeepers of the modern era and it’s no surprise to see him on today’s list.
The former Bayern Munich shot-stopper won the Champions League in 2000–01 and kept a total of 34 clean sheets in the competition.
7. Dida
Dida is a two-time winner of the Champions League, with victories coming in 2002-03 and 2006-07 with AC Milan.
The Brazilian goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the 2002-03 Champions League final as Milan played out a goalless draw with Juventus before winning on penalties.
Dida kept a total of 34 clean sheets in 72 Champions League appearances.
6. Victor Valdes
The role Victor Valdes had to play in several of Barcelona’s winning campaigns should not be underestimated.
Everything started with the Spanish goalkeeper in terms of the build-up play and he also pulled off his fair share of saves over the years.
Valdes has won three Champions League titles and has kept a total of 45 clean sheets in the competition.
5. Petr Cech
Petr Cech holds the Premier League record for the most clean sheets of all time and he also has an excellent record in Europe.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper won the Champions League in 2011-12 and had his role to play in the penalty shootout against Bayern Munich.
Cech has kept a total of 49 clean sheets in 111 Champions League appearances.
4. Edwin van der Sar
Edwin van der Sar won the Champions League with Manchester United in 2007-08 and he also came close on a couple of other occasions.
The Dutch goalkeeper was a mountain between the sticks and he managed to keep 51 clean sheets in 98 appearances.
3. Gianluigi Buffon
Gianluigi Buffon is undoubtedly the best goalkeeper to have played in the Champions League that has never actually won the competition.
The Italian goalkeeper has been on the losing end of three Champions League finals with Juventus.
The 44-year-old is still active in the game today and is currently playing his football for Parma in the Italian second division.
In total, he managed to keep 52 clean sheets in 124 appearances.
2. Manuel Neuer
Manuel Neuer redefined what it meant to be a goalkeeper in the modern game and he will definitely go down as one of the greatest of all time.
The German goalkeeper has won two Champions League titles and has kept 53 clean sheets in 130 appearances.
The 36-year-old is still a crucial first team member for Bayern and he will have his eyes set on the all-time clean sheet record.

Claiming the number one spot with the most clean sheets in Champions League history is Iker Casillas.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper won three Champions League titles in three different decades for Madrid.
The Spanish goalkeeper currently holds the record with 59 clean sheets in 177 Champions League appearances.
