The Championship’s most clinical strikers ranked
The Championship has been exciting again this season with plenty of goals, and we took a look at the division's highest scoring strikers.
In this article, we ranked the highest scoring players in the league, noting their goal per game ratio and how many minutes on average it takes them to score, showing who is the most prolific.
This can inform betting on markets such as individual goal scorers and the number of team goals and may indicate which players could be heading for other clubs in the summer.
1. Aleksandar Mitrovic – Fulham
Played: 36
Goals: 37
Goals per game: 1.03
Mins per goal: 85
Mitrovic has had another outstanding season in the Championship with Fulham, breaking the individual goalscoring record with his 37-goal haul. He smashed Ivan Toney’s record of 31 goals, which was set last season.
The Serbian striker has once again proved his quality, scoring a staggering 40% of Fulham’s 92 goals from the campaign, firing them almost certainly back into the Premier League.
His form has often dropped when playing in the topflight, scoring 24 goals in 104 appearances in the PL, so it will be interesting to see if he can carry his current form into next season.

2. Dominic Solanke – AFC Bournemouth
Played: 37
Goals: 24
Goals per game: 0.65
Mins per goal: 137
Dominic Solanke’s career began with a lot of hype at Chelsea. Jose Mourinho said in 2014 that if Solanke didn’t become a future England international, he would hold himself personally responsible.
Nevertheless, he never started a game for them and moved to Liverpool in 2017 where he made 21 appearances and scored just one goal.
But, the 24-year-old seems to have really found his shooting boots this season, scoring 24 goals with Bournemouth who are currently sitting in 2nd place and look set for a return to the Premier League if they can keep up their current form.
3. Ben Brereton Diaz – Blackburn Rovers
Played: 31
Goals: 20
Goals per game: 0.65
Mins per goal: 128
Ben Brereton Diaz was 1000/1 to score 20+ goals at the start of the season, and he’s proved the bookies wrong by doing it in just 31 appearances.
The Chilean international has had the best campaign of his career by far, scoring more goals in 2021/22 than all his previous goals combined.
Unsurprisingly, the 22-year-old has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs, as well as reportedly Barcelona, so if Blackburn fail to get promoted this year, he may end up making a big-money move elsewhere.

4. Andreas Weimann – Bristol City
Played: 40
Goals: 19
Goals per game: 0.48
Mins per goal: 189
Andreas Weimann is best remembered for his five-year stint with Aston Villa from 2010 to 2015, but he seems to have found his level with Bristol City, scoring 19 goals this season, helping steer them clear of relegation.
Weimann’s good form earned him a call up to the Austrian national team in March, his first in seven years.
At the age of 30, will a club closer to the top of the Championship take a punt on the striker this summer?
5. Elijah Adebayo – Luton Town
Played: 35
Goals: 15
Goals per game: 0.43
Mins per goal: 195
Elijah Adebayo has fired himself onto the scene with an excellent season with Luton Town, scoring 15 goals so far.
His goals have undoubtedly contributed to Luton’s success this year, who find themselves in 4th place and in with a great chance of securing a playoff spot.
West Brom, Huddersfield Town and Burnley are all reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old in the summer and he has made a name as one of the best strikers in the division.
