The 10 players with the highest xG in the Premier League this season

The Premier League has started with a bang this season and there certainly hasn’t been a shortage of goals.

We’ve looked into the top 10 Premier League players with the highest xG this season. 

10. Wilfried Zaha 

Wilfried Zaha has been the biggest goal-threat in a Crystal Palace side that has generally struggled for goals this season. 

The Palace forward has scored four goals from an xG of 2.8 and he is the only player at Palace to have scored more than one goal this season. 

9. Roberto Firmino 

Roberto Firmino hasn’t always been considered as a prolific forward, but his goalscoring record this season has been more than impressive. 

Liverpool have struggled to get going in the Premier League, but Firmino has already scored five goals from an xG of 2.8. 

8. Callum Wilson 

Callum Wilson has been unlucky with injuries once again this season, but when he has played, he’s been as effective as ever. 

The 30-year-old has scored three goals this season from an xG of 2.9, which is more than anyone else in the Newcastle squad. 

7. Raheem Sterling 

Raheem Sterling left Manchester City this summer in the search of regular first-team football and that’s exactly what he’s got at Chelsea so far. 

The 27-year-old has scored three goals this season from an xG of exactly three and he has been Chelsea’s main goal threat so far. 

6. Mohamed Salah 

While Mohamed Salah hasn’t been having his best season so far, he has still been getting into plenty of goalscoring positions. 

Salah seems to have taken up a slightly different role for Liverpool this season and as a result, his creative numbers have actually bumped up from last year. 

The Egyptian international has only scored two goals this season though, from an xG of 3.2.

Ivan Toney has done well to force himself into the England squad and his performances this season have certainly merited the praise he has received.

4. Aleksandar Mitrovic 

Before the season had started, people has debated whether or not Mitrovic’s excellent form in the Championship could be replicated in the Premier League. 

Last season he scored a record-breaking 43 Championship goals and this season he’s looked just as sharp.

3. Gabriel Jesus 

Gabriel Jesus has definitely been one of the signings of the summer and he’s had no problems adapting to life in London. 

The former Manchester City forward has already scored five goals this season from an xG of 5.2. 

The Brazilian forward offers much more than just goals though as his all-round game has been crucial in taking Mikel Arteta’s side to the next level. 

Arsenal host Liverpool this weekend and you wouldn’t bet against Jesus being the difference between the two sides.

Harry Kane’s consistency is something to be admired and he will definitely have Alan Shearer’s Premier League record in his sights. 

The Spurs forward has scored seven goals this season from an xG of 5.6, highlighting just how clinical he has been.

It will come as no surprise to see Manchester City’s Erling Haaland topping the list. 

In the Premier League, he has managed to score 14 goals from an xG of 8.4 and he is currently on track to scoring over 60 goals this season. 

Haaland already has one hand on the Golden Boot this season and provided he stays injury free, we could be in for a record-breaking season.
