Premier League's top 10 teams for Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes

Manchester City players
Shot Creating Actions can tell good part of the story, but not the whole thing. Here are the top 10 teams in the Premier League ranked by their Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes.

Shot Creating Actions is a good measure to show how adept a team is at creating shots. As such, you often see the top teams further up the list.

Here are the top 10 teams in the Premier League for Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes.

Manchester City

Total Shot Creating Actions: 960

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 29.09

Manchester City wouldn't be at the top of the table if they didn't score a lot of goals, and they aren't going to score goals without creating and taking a whole lot of shots.

City rank top of the list here, but second in total shots taken with 605.

They also rank second when it comes to Goal Creating, too. They have 114 Goal Creation Actions in total, with 3.45 Goal Creating Actions per 90 minutes.

Liverpool

Total Shot Creating Actions: 923

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 27.97

Liverpool is challenging Manchester City for Premier League title, and they do have them beat in some departments.

They don't have them beat here for SCA, but what's the ultimate goal of taking a shot? Scoring from that shot.

Liverpool have City beat in Goal Creating Actions, coming in with 141 in total and 4.27 Goal Creating Actions per 90 minutes.

Chelsea

Total Shot Creating Actions: 783

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 24.47

Chelsea are a full 3.5 SCA90 off of Liverpool, and are only 0.38 ahead of Arsenal, which is a perfect demonstration of how they have fallen off of the title fight and put their third-place spot in contention.

Interestingly, Arsenal have a higher total of SCA, yet because Chelsea have played one less game, they stay ahead of them per 90 minutes.

Even more interestingly, though, is the fact that Chelsea then catch back up to the front two for GCA.

They have 108 GCA, just six shy of City, and 3.38 GCA90, 0.07 off of City.

Arsenal

Total Shot Creating Actions: 795

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 24.09

Arsenal are embroiled in the battle for fourth, which means they need to give that fight there all. By being at the front of the teams involved in that fight for this stat, it shows they are indeed doing what they must.

Like mentioned before, the Gunners are actually beating Chelsea for the total SCA, and they also beat them for total shots, with Chelsea having taken 472 shots this season to Arsenal's 504.

But again, it's the goals that wins games, and Arsenal haven't been the most adept at converting their shots to goals this season.

They have 76 total GCA for a 2.30 GCA90 rate, which puts them behind Manchester United and Tottenham for both of those stats.

Manchester United

Total Shot Creating Actions: 783

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 23.03

Manchester United have been largely very disappointing this season, although they have showed glimpses of the team that they should be. And when they have, they have looked fantastic.

They are now fighting for a place in the Champions League next season, and as mentioned before, while they are not leading the way for SCA, they do lead the fourth-place battle for GCA, which is slightly more important.

94 total GCA is fourth in the league for that stat, but their rate of 2.76 GCA90 has them fifth.

The only reason for rate being one lower is because of the team up next.

Tottenham

Total Shot Creating Actions: 685

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 20.76

Tottenham are a bit of an anomaly on this list. While they rank highly for SCA, they actually rank slightly lower for total shots this season, with 415, which is ninth in the league.

And then it gets even stranger when looking at their goals and GCA.

They have the same number of GCA as United (94), but they take the sole fourth spot because they have played one less game than them.

Either way, it can't be denied that Spurs, like United, have been disappointing this season, but have also shown good spells that display why they are one of the top teams in the league.

Southampton

Total Shot Creating Actions: 672

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 19.76

How Southampton have snuck onto this list is a mystery. When you think of the league's best shooters, a Saints player is not high on that list. You could put James Ward-Prowse in there, but that's more for his set-pieces.

The Saints have in fact taken the sixth most shots this season with 446 and rank seventh on this list for SCA and SCA90.

Unfortunately for them, and really the big reason why they aren't in such a good position this year, is their scoring.

They are 12th for goals this year with 38 and are 13th for GCA with 57 and GCA90 with 1.68.

Leeds United

Total Shot Creating Actions: 651

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 19.73

Leeds are very similar to Southampton, in the sense that they rank highly for shots but then lowly for goals.

Overall, Leeds have been fairly disappointing this year. Last year, their first year back in the Prem, they were fantastic. They also ranked in the top 10 for SCA and SCA90, but also converted their shots to be fifth in the league for GCA and GCA90.

This year has been very different, and while they still find themselves in the top 10 for SCA, they fall outside of it for GCA and GCA90, coming in at 14th for both.

Brighton

Total Shot Creating Actions: 650

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 19.12

Brighton shocked the league early in the season by having a strong start to their campaign, sitting at the top of the table for a short time.

Through that, they have maintained top 10 status is various statistics, despite dropping off that level. This stat is one of them.

Unfortunately for the Seagulls, they have the distinction of being the worst team on this list for conversion rate and actually a few other shooting statistics.

It's all well and good creating the shots, but with a league-worst 27.3% shots on target rate, it's no surprise that they rank 17th for GCA with 49 and 19th for GCA90 with 1.44.

Aston Villa

Total Shot Creating Actions: 598

Shot Creating Actions per 90 minutes: 18.69

Aston Villa rank at the bottom of this list for SCA, but fare much better in the GCA department.

First though, it should be noted that their 598 SCA has them in 12th in the league for that stat. Their SCA90 is what puts them on this list.

But their GCA is what impresses somewhat, as they are in 10th for GCA with 64 and are ninth for GCA90 with an even rate of 2.
