Players from relegated sides who could jump ship

Image Description
Burnley, Watford and Norwich are the three unfortunate teams who have been relegated from the Premier League this season. Each have players who fared well in the Prem and could now look to leave.

Last week, we looked at who could the third and final team to go down this year. We now know who it is.

Watford, Norwich and Burnley are the three unfortunate teams who have been relegated to the Championship from the Premier League this season.

Norwich are a team that belong in a league of their own between the Championship and Premier League, so it is kind of no surprise they finished plum last.

But Watford and Burnley both have squads that feature a player or two that look very suited to the Premier League. And now that they have gone down, those players may look to leave to greener pastures.

Here are four players who could make a move to stay in the Prem or even go elsewhere this summer.

Nick Pope

Goals conceded: 47

Goals conceded per 90 mins: 1.31

Save percentage: 73.6%

Nick Pope is one of the finest goalkeepers in England. His heroics on multiple occasions helped lead Burnley to 10th in the league for goals conceded, which is extremely impressive.

His rate of 1.31 goals conceded per 90 minutes also has himself in 10th place for that stat. He then takes a big jump up to fifth in the league for save percentage. That rate puts him ahead of Manchester City's Ederson, Manchester United's David De Gea, and only 1.7% shy of Liverpool's Alisson.

Pope is a Premier League-calibre keeper, and with teams such as Newcastle and Southampton reportedly out for a goalkeeper this summer, a move is definitely on the cards.

Emmanuel Dennis

Goals: 10

Assists: 6

Shot-Creating Actions: 91

Emmanuel Dennis signed for Watford just last summer, and it was a questionable signing to say the least.

He had not a whole lot with any of the previous clubs he played for, so why did Watford go for him?

He soon proved to everyone exactly what he is capable of, as he went on to score 10 goals and pick up six assists in the season.

What's more, he had the 24th most shot-creating actions in the league. 24th may not sound fantastic, but that is out of 546 players. He is also 25th for goal-creating actions with 12.

Dennis looks like the sort of player perfectly suited as a starter for a newly promoted or lower-table team, like Bournemouth or Leeds, or as a backup striker for a mid-to-European-challenger team, like Aston Villa or West Ham.

James Tarkowski

Tackles + Interceptions: 143

Clearances: 216

Blocked shots: 63

James Tarkowski has had a strong year and now finds himself in a pretty good position where his services are quite sought after.

He ranks 15th in the league for tackles + interceptions, which is alright, but his main style of defending seems to be get in the way and get the ball away.

He ranks top of the league for clearances and blocked shots, joint top for blocked shots on target and is second for total blocks.

Tarkowski has already been linked with multiple teams, so the likelihood of his departure is very high.

Maxwel Cornet

Goals: 9

Assists: 1

Shots on target percentage: 47.8%

Burnley signed Maxwel Cornet just last summer and they could not have been happier with what they got.

As a wing back, Cornet showed his ability to get forward, but maybe not so much getting back. He scored nine goals this season and chipped in with one assist, too.

Most impressively, he had a very strong 47.8% shots on target percentage, which puts him 13th in the league for that stat.

Whatever happens with him, it's entirely possible that he will be transitioned into a full-blown winger.

Cornet could leave for just £17.5million as he has a release clause in his contract that would have only been triggered should Burnley go down. So, that's a live one now, and best believe there will be teams interested.
