Matheus Nunes is reportedly on his way to Manchester City.
The Portuguese player could potentially become City's final signing in this transfer window.

It seems that there's some transfer activity brewing at Manchester City before the window closes on Friday evening. Young talent Cole Palmer is rumored to be linked with Chelsea, while Guardiola is reportedly close to securing a deal for Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton. The price for Nunes is said to be €62 million, as he made a statement earlier in the week by skipping training to make his desire to join City clear. Now, with the clubs supposedly agreeing on a price, it's just a matter of time before a deal is signed.
Pep Guardiola has previously spoken positively about Matheus Nunes, whom he already referred to as one of the best midfielders last seasons. Therefore, Nunes seems to be a desired player that Guardiola is bringing into the squad. Manchester City seems to have done well in this transfer window, with the acquisitions of Jeremy Doku, Kovacic, and now Nunes – three quality players who have the potential to further develop under Pep's guidance.

Matheus Nunes for Wolves in the Premier League 2022/23:
Games: 34
Goals: 1
Assists: 1
Shots: 28
Chances created: 27
Pass success: 82.3%
Duels: 348
Duel success: 52.3%
Dribble success: 61.1%

He spent one season at Wolverhampton after his move from Sporting. During that season, he emerged as one of the key players and leaders on the field for the team. Nunes is comfortable on the ball and possesses excellent ball control. He can dribble past opponents in tight spaces, making him effective in breaking through defensive lines, he has a good passing range and can play short, precise passes as well as long balls to switch the play or create scoring opportunities.

Nunes is known for his high work rate and tireless running. He contributes both offensively and defensively, making him a versatile presence in the midfield and despite his relatively young age, Nunes has shown leadership qualities on the field, often directing play and communicating with his teammates.

It will be exciting to see if he can earn a place in City's starting lineup, where there is strong competition. Pep has rotated a bit at the beginning of the season between Bernardo Silva, Foden, Kovacic, and Julian Alvarez, so he has tough competitors to vie for a spot with. However, Kevin De Bruyne is out with a long injury, which is probably why Pep is choosing to bring in a midfielder, as he wants depth in the squad for the upcoming Champions League as well. His qualities as a football player fit well into City's style, and if he can add more goals and assists to his game, a bright future awaits Nunes in Manchester.
