This article looks at the teams most likely to play in matches with over 2.5 goals, based on their results so far this season, breaking down the percentages of their home and away games overall.

Liverpool have enjoyed a free-scoring season so far, netting 64 times in 25 games, the highest number of goals in the league. This is thanks to excellent campaigns from prolific scorers such as Mo Salah and Diogo Jota, who have scored 16 and 12 goals respectively.

La Liga

Atletico Madrid may have not yet reached the heights of their title-winning 2020/21 campaign, but their games certainly have been full of goals, scoring 45 and conceding 34 in 25 matches. Their strike partnership of Angel Correa and Luis Suarez has been particularly effective, scoring 11 and nine goals respectively.

The fact that they have already conceded nine more goals in the league this season than they did in the whole of 2020/21 is a key contributing factor to their lacklustre position in the league. However, it’s good news for savvy punters who have noticed 68% of their matches have had over 2.5 goals.

The Bundesliga is always a good option for goals, and the German champions Bayern Munich have the highest percentage of 2.5+ goal games this season with an incredible 91% of games meeting this criterion. If you need something to boost your acca then a bet on Bayern Munich in this market has an extremely good chance of coming in.

Bayern are closely followed by Borussia Dortmund, who have had over 2.5 goals in 87% of their matches this season.

There should be plenty of goals when the sides play each other in a top-of-the-table scrap in April.

Lazio currently sit just four points away from the Champions League qualification spots and they have scored plenty of goals. In 26 matches they have converted 53 times, the second-highest tally in the league. Lazio’s striker Ciro Immobile has been in fine form once again this season, scoring 19 goals in 21 games.

However, where they have slipped up is in their defending, conceding 40 times, the highest number of the top eight clubs in the Serie A. With 77% of their matches ending with over 2.5 goals, they are a great option for this market.

When Bordeaux play away from home, they are always worth a punt on goals. Some 92% of their away matches this season have ended with over 2.5 goals, and an overall percentage of 72% is by far the highest in Ligue 1.

However, unlike a lot of teams in this article, it’s not because they are scoring plenty – it’s because they are conceding. Bordeaux currently sit in last place in the table, with a goal difference of -25, conceding a staggering 62 goals in 25 games this season.

It’s unwelcome news for Bordeaux fans but good news for punters as an over 2.5 goals bet on their away fixtures is almost a given.
