Euro weekend round-up: PSG and Bayern hit seven, Lewandowski off the mark
The football didn’t disappoint this weekend as Lewandowski got off the mark for Barcelona as well as PSG and Bayern Munich both hitting seven goals.
We’ve dived into all of the stats from the biggest games from across Europe this weekend and have everything you need to know.
Neymar is back to this best
PSG have started their Ligue 1 campaign like they mean serious business this season.
Across their opening three matches they have already scored 17 goals and they put seven goals past Lille this weekend.
After their previous game against Montpellier, it seemed as if there was a fracture in the dressing room between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but all of those rumours were put to bed this weekend.
Mbappe opened the scoring after just eight seconds against Lille as he was brilliantly assisted by Lionel Messi.
The Frenchman went on to score his first hat-trick of the season, but once again it was Neymar who stole the show.
The Brazilian playmaker seems more focused than ever and in just three matches this season he has five goals and six assists.
The Brazilian scored a brace in this one as well as putting up a hat-trick of assists.
Neymar had a superb evening as he created three big chances, four key passes and won three ground duels.
PSG’s frontline of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi have already scored 12 goals between them this season as the chemistry now seems to be flowing between the trio.
Messi continues to provide the goods from a creative aspect as he has now provided 12 assists in this calendar year, which is more than anyone in Europe’s top five leagues.
Next up for PSG is an away trip to Monaco on Sunday.
Bayern hit seven
PSG weren't the only side across Europe’s top five leagues to score seven goals this weekend as Bayern Munich also achieved the same feat.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side completely dismantled VfL Bochum to maintain their perfect start to the season.
Bayern have now scored 15 goals across their opening three Bundesliga matches as they sit at the top of the Bundesliga with a perfect record.
Sadio Mane had his best performance in a Bayern Shirt to date as he scored a brace.
Kingsley Coman also looked particularly sharp as he scored and assisted two of Bayern’s goals from his role on the right-hand side.
The French winger provided three key passes throughout the afternoon and he caused Saidy Janko all sorts of problems in the Bochum back line.
Lewandowski is off the mark
Bayern Munich might not be missing Robert Lewandowski, but Barcelona are grateful to have him at their disposal this season.
Xavi’s side had started the season with a frustrating draw against Rayo Vallecano, but they managed to get back on track this weekend.
Barcelona put four goals past Real Sociedad and it only took Lewandowski 46 seconds to open the scoring.
The Polish forward scored a brace as well as setting up Ansu Fati for his goal with an inventive flick.
Barcelona took 15 shots in total and if this is a sign of things to come, they will score plenty of goals this season.
Chelsea collapse against Leeds
Perhaps the biggest shock of the weekend was how easily Leeds were able to dismantle a Chelsea side who looked so good last week against Spurs.
Leeds accumulated an xG of 2.66 to Chelsea’s 0.76 and deservedly won 3-0 in the end.
Tyler Adams had a brilliant display in midfield as he won six ground duels and made four tackles throughout the afternoon.
Rodrigo, Brenden Aaronson and Jack Harrison caused Chelsea all sorts of problems throughout the afternoon
