England’s top 10 most creative players this season
Ahead of this year's World Cup in Qatar, Gareth Southgate has a plethora of creative options to pick from and we’ve taken a look into England’s most creative players this season.
We’ve compiled the top 10 English players across Europe’s top five leagues with the most shot-creating actions this season.
10. Conor Gallagher & Jadon Sancho
Coming in joint 10th place we have Conor Gallagher and Jadon Sancho who have both registered 82 shot-creating actions this season.
Gallagher has established himself as a Premier League star this season with Crystal Palace and has 11 goal contributions to show for it.
Sancho on the other hand has been a little bit of a slow burner at Manchester United, but in the second half of the season he has started to come back into form.
9. James Maddison
Leicester’s James Maddison has brought himself back into the frame for an England call-up with him getting back to his best this season.
Maddison has 13 goal contributions in the Premier League from 84 shot-creating actions.
8. Jarrod Bowen
Arguably the most deserving of an England call-up, Jarrod Bowen has been having the season of his life for West Ham.
The tricky winger has 16 goals and nine assists across all competitions for the Hammers and has 89 shot-creating actions in the Premier League.
7. Jack Grealish
Plenty has been made of Jack Grealish’s £100 million move to Manchester City this summer but as he has been adapting to a new role, his creative numbers still show up fairly well.
He only has two Premier League assists to show for it, but Grealish has 91 shot-creating actions which still ranks him amounts England’s best creators.
6. Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham has a little bit of everything in his game and he plays with a level of maturity you don’t often see from 18-year-olds.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has registered 94 shot-creating actions in the Bundesliga this season and he has 10 goal contributions to show for it.
5. Mason Mount
Mason Mount has been an ever-present member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad and this year should be no different.
The dynamic midfielder is Chelsea’s top scorer with 10 goals and he has chipped in with 98 shot-creating actions.
4. Harry Kane
As the only striker appearing on today’s list, Harry Kane will no doubt be the first name on the team sheet come November.
The England captain has developed into a creative force in recent years and is now just as much of a creator as he is goalscorer.
The 28-year-old has 100 shot-creating actions and has put up eight assists so far this season.
3. James Ward-Prowse
Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse has done everything he could have this season to put him at the front of Gareth Southgate’s mind.
The set-piece specialist has 105 shot-creating actions and is Southampton’s top goalscorer with nine goals.
2. Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka’s versatility makes him a useful outlet for England, but this season he has especially made a name for himself on the right-hand side.
This has been his best goalscoring season to date, with 11 goals and six assists in the Premier League alone.
The Arsenal star has registered 126 shot-creating actions this season, which ranks him as the second most creative Englishman this season.
1. Trent Alexander-Arnold
Of course Trent Alexander-Arnold was always going to claim the number one spot.
The 23-year-old is the creative hub of Jurgen Klopp’s side and he is on course to having his best creative season yet.
He has produced 12 assists in the Premier League from 137 shot-creating actions, which ranks him as England’s most creative player this season.
Gareth Southgate still has quite the choice to make with England’s selection of right backs though with the likes of Kyle Walker, Reece James and Kieran Trippier all vying for a place in the squad.
