Barcelona vs Bayern Munich – Champions League Preview

Manchester United target Frenkie De Jong
Barcelona could be eliminated from the Champions League tonight when they face Bayern Munich at home.

FC Barcelona have a knife to their throat ahead of Wednesday's Champions League game against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou. Barcelona need a win it they want a decent chance to catch Inter in 2nd place in group C. Inter have 7 points while Barcelona have four, which is why only a win is useful.

Current form:

Before the start of the season, Barcelona was in major headwinds as the club faced several financial problems. Lack of player registrations and player sales came close to making Barcelona's season a nightmare, but an excellent start to the season in La Liga generated more positive media coverage.

Barca have had a good start to the La Liga season where they are number 2, three points behind league rivals from Real Madrid. The disappointment of the season so far was also the defeat to Madrid.

Especially Barcelona's defense has been excellent where they have only conceded 4 goals and in Lewandowski they have found the man who will once again score the goals that will take them back to the top.

In the Champions League on the other hand, they have not found their form and with only 1 win and 1 draw they are really close to leave the tournament already.

The guests from Munich have been superb in the Champions League, where they have won all 4 games and have an impressive goal score of 13-2.  In the Bundesliga they have 4 draws which is the reason why they only are placed second behind Union Berlin. Their offense has been incredibly dangerous, which can be seen in the 32 goals they have scored in the Bundesliga so far.

Injuries:

Barcelona are struggling with injuries in defense and the coach Xavi will be without services from following players;
-    Andreas Christensen
-    Ronald Araujo
-    Gavi
-    Sergi Roberto
-    Memphis Depay

Nagelsmann is without three key players who all are ruled out of action;
-    Manuel Neuer
-    Lucas Hernandez
-    Leroy Sane
-    Bouna Sarr

Profiles in the game:

Both teams have strengths in the offensive and we must assume that the match will wave back and forth, the first goal may well go and be decisive the games result.
Based on current form and the fact that Barcelona is forced to attack, tonight's profile may well be Frenchman Ousmane Dembele.

Robert Lewandowski will of course also be incredibly important against his former team, and if he hits one of his unique nights, the German defense will have big problems controlling him.

A player in top form for Bayern Munich is the young Jamal Musiala, with both goals and assists he has been one of the big profiles in both the Bundesliga and Champions League this season and definitely a player to keep an eye on tonight.

Key stats for the game:

Bayern are unbeaten in their las 32 UCL group stage games (W29- D3)

Bayern won 8 of the last 9 meetings with FC Barcelona

Result of the game:

Barcelona is forced to play offensively from the start and therefore it could well indicate a goal-rich match, as Bayern Munich also usually score goals.
