The favourites for the Golden Boot in the Premier League

Image Description
Last season we had a thrilling battle between Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son for the Golden Boot, but who are the current favourites for next season?

We’ve taken a look into the latest odds to find out who the current favourites are for the top goalscorer award.

Callum Wilson 33/1

An outsider for sure, but Callum Wilson certainly knows where the back of the net is.

Considering Newcastle’s added creativity, Callum Wilson should be targeting double figures as a bare minimum if he can keep himself fit.

Last season Wilson averaged a goal every 174 minutes, which means that if he plays every minute of this season and managed the same ratio he would score 20 goals.

Bruno Fernandes 33/1

With the uncertainty currently surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps Bruno Fernandes will be Manchester United’s main man once again this season.

His best goalscoring season with United came in 2020/21 where he scored 18 Premier League goals.

Raheem Sterling 28/1

With Raheem Sterling now being a Chelsea player, you would expect him to start more than the 23 games he did last season.

For Manchester City last year Sterling averaged a goal every 163 minutes.

Gabriel Jesus 16/1

Gabriel Jesus is no longer playing a supporting role at Manchester City and he will now take up the mantle as Arsenal’s main goal threat.

In just 21 starts Jesus managed to chip in with 16 goal contributions last season, a tally which he will be looking to improve upon this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo 16/1

While the future of Cristiano Ronaldo is still a mystery, there’s no doubt that he scores goals.

Whether he’s playing for Manchester United or Chelsea, you can almost guarantee he will be in the conversation.

In a struggling Man United side, CR7 still managed to score 18 goals and he was the league’s third top scorer last season.

Darwin Nunez 11/1

If Darwin Nunez can catch fire in the Premier League like he did in the Portuguese League, then we could all be in for a treat.

Nunez scored 26 league goals last season from just 85 shots in total.

The striker also had the third highest xG overperformance last season in the Champions League as he scored six goals from an xG of just three.

Son-Heung Min 10/1

Son-Heung Min was last season’s winner of the Golden Boot and who’s to say he can’t do it again?

Son overperformed his xG by 6.6 goals last time around and if he’s able to be just as clinical this season, you’d expect him to be in and around the 20-goal mark.

Harry Kane 11/2

Harry Kane has continued to evolve his game to the point that he is now the creative force behind Antonio Conte’s Spurs side.

That being said, he’s always good for 20 or so goals. Despite a slow start to last season, Kane still found the back of the net 17 times in the Premier League and was the fourth highest scorer overall.

With the added dynamism of Richarlison to Spurs forward line, it would be no surprise to see Kane adding another Golden Boot to his collection.

Mohamed Salah 9/2

Mohamed Salah already has three Premier League Golden Boots to his name and if last season was anything to go by, he won’t be going away anytime soon.

Salah overperformed his xG by 1.2 goals last season as he finished the year on 23, joint with Son-Heung Min.

Now that Sadio Mane is out of the equation, even more of the goalscoring onus may fall upon Salah’s shoulders.

Erling Haaland 11/4

The front runner for this season’s Golden Boot appears to be Manchester City’s Erling Haaland at this point in time and it’s easy to see why.

Haaland overperformed his xG by 4.4 goals in the Bundesliga last season as he scored 22 goals.

When you consider Manchester City average 18.5 shots per 90, Haaland should have plenty of service this season.
